Abstract

This article is the result of a descriptive study that was performed with the intention of determining the
pattern and the facial relations in the panamanian students of the Health Sciences Faculty of the Universidad
Interamericana de Panamá UIP.
Different measurements were taken in a sample of 100 students, where one could determine that the pattern of the
students of the UIP consists of: long face, with balanced thirds, where the mid third is increased compared with the
top and low third, eyes and lips are projected, wide nose base, the chin in the female gender was more prominent
that in the male gender, also they present a major quantity of adipose tissue in the neck or cervical area.
All these findings are important to know the proper facial patterns of our population, and this way to be able
to establish standards that are consulted safely on having applied a corrective treatment. The present study can
be considered to be an exploratory approach in the knowledge of the anthropomorphic reality of patterns and
facial relations of the panamanian population.
