Abstract

Aim: To analyze the number of total prostheses in relation to the partial ones delivered in the Dentistry Service of the National Geriatrics and Gerontology Hospital, in the period from January 2015 to December 2018”. The service of the HNGG Dentistry Service is the manufacture of dental prostheses on a national scale. The purpose of this study is to compare and analyze the number of full arch dentures in relation to the partial ones delivered in the Dentistry Service of the National Geriatrics and Gerontology Hospital, in the period from January 2015 to December 2018. Methodology: The number of dentures studied was 9,170. The study is non-experimental, descriptive, retrospective, where non-manipulable situations are observed, based on the official records of the dental laboratory and clinic. Results: 60% total dentures and 40% removable partial dentures and 50% color A2, 44% color A1 and 6% color A3. Discussion: In this Department, more full arch than partial prostheses are being performed, highlighting the deterioration of oral health in the elderly population. Main results: Characteristics of the prostheses made by the Dentistry Service of the National Geriatrics and Gerontology Hospital were: 60% full arch dentures and 40% removable partial dentures and 50% color A2, 44% color A1 and 6% color A3. Main conclusions: Currently, a greater number of removable full arch dental prostheses is being carried out, than removable partial dentures in an average of 60% to 40%. The colors most requested by patients are white tones.
