Periodontal Alternatives in Implantology

The aim of this paper is to identify the most effective interventions for treating peri-implantitis around osseointegrated oral implants such as no surgical treatment, surgical approach, new alternatives like laser or the importance of maintenance of keratinized mucosa and an oral full mouth disinfection around oral implants. There is no scientific evidence suggesting which could be the most effective treatment. For this reason, it has risen up an antiinfective protocol cumulative interceptive supportive therapy (CIST), as a guideline for treating peri-implant disease.
