Publication Guidelines

 

 

 

 

Odontología Vital Journal receives original manuscripts that belong to dental research 
and that have not been published by other scientific journals. The study must be original
and will be subject to double-blind peer review at the discretion of the editors.
Manuscripts are typically around 6,000 to 7,000 words. Manuscripts must be uploaded to the platform following the link
https://revistas.ulatina.ac.cr/index.php/odontologiavital/about/submissions
Before submitting a manuscript for review, authors must read and understand the 
Peer Review process and Open Access policies. Important note: Manuscripts that do not present the requested format will be returned
for correction. Additionally, the presentation of a Letter of Originality is mandatory.
Here, it must be declared that the document is original, and each of the authors must
confirm that they collaborated with a minimum of 3 of the processes listed:
-Financing
-Study design
-Data collection
-Statistical analysis and interpretation of results
-Manuscript preparation

 

Deadlines for submission

-To be considered for volume 1 (Published in March), you can submit your article until 
October 15 of the previous year. -To be taken into account for volume 2 (Published in August), you can submit your
article until March 15 of the same year.
 

Item Types Original research: Original investigations are detailed studies that report original results and are
classified as primary literature. Revision: The reviews provide a critical and systematic evaluation of the current scientific
literature, in order to offer a value judgment about that particular context, topic,
or field. Specialized topics: We welcome proposals according to specific fields of dentistry, which would be published
in thematic dossiers.

Must include:
- Author(s) information: Full names, email addresses and ORCID of all co-authors of your manuscript.
- An explanation of why your manuscript should be published in VITAL DENTISTRY
- A declaration of possible conflicts of interest.
- Confirmation that the content of the manuscript has not been published or submitted for publication elsewhere.
- Sources of financing
- Everyone listed as an author should have made a direct and substantial intellectual contribution to the work. For example, you should have contributed to the conception, design, analysis and/or interpretation of data. Honorary or guest authorship is not acceptable.
- All authors who participated in the development of the manuscript must sign the Cover letter.

in their work, and release the Vital Dentistry Magazine, the Universidad Latina de Costa Rica
and Arizona State University, from any responsibility that may arise from the assertions
made. in the post. Articles related to experiments on human beings must be accompanied by an approval document
from the Ethics Committee of the institution where the study is carried out, in addition to
an informed consent. No data must be included that allows the study subjects to be identified,
by their names or qualities, or by their image in photographs, unless expressly authorized
in writing by them, with an original document that must be delivered to the Editorial Board
of the Journal.

English and Spanish. A text in both languages ​​invites more readers to access published
scientific information. ORCiD ORCiD helps researchers record and report their work by providing them with a unique
identifier. Authors are suggested to register in ORCiD and provide this information when
submitting their manuscript for evaluation to be published in Odontología Vital.

the pre-print modality. Like any other manuscript, these pre-prints will be part of
the review and arbitration process to determine if they will be published in this journal. Authors are urged to make use of the pre-print repository of the Scielo platform,
which can be found at the following link: https://preprints.scielo.org/index.php/scielo PARTS OF THE MANUSCRIPT Title: It is suggested that the title does not contain names of cities or towns.
It should contain as many keywords as possible. Summary: All manuscripts must have a summary in Spanish and an abstract in English-
This must have around 300 to 500 words. In addition, it is requested that it be divided
into sections: -Introduction -Goal -Method -Results -Conclusions At the end of the abstract, 4 to 6 keywords should be included.
In Spanish it is recommended to use the Descriptors in Health Sciences (DeCS) and for
English the Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) Introduction: The purpose of the article is specified. The rationale for the study or
observation is summarized. The problem is identified and the reasons why the research is
carried out are justified. Hypotheses and objectives are formulated if relevant.
It may be beneficial to include background from the scientific literature and a robust
conceptual foundation. The reference and citation method of Odontología Vital
is APA. Method: The way in which the observed subjects or those who participated in the experiments
were selected is clearly described. All criteria for inclusion and exclusion of the sample
must be present in this section. You must identify the methods, apparatus, and procedures
used, in sufficient detail so that other researchers can reproduce the results. You must
provide references to accredited methods, including those of a statistical nature. All
medications and chemical products used are detailed, not forgetting generic names, doses
and routes of administration. In the case of literature reviews, they must include the search
terms and name the databases used.

Whenever possible, references to study design will be from current works, rather than 
from original articles where they were first described. Results: The results are presented following a logical sequence through text, tables and
figures that contribute to the clarity of the explanation. Limit the number of tables and
figures to the minimum necessary to explain the central theme of the article. You must
ensure that these are mentioned within the text to guide the reader. Highlight or summarize
only important observations. Describe what you have obtained without including bibliographic
citations. Discussion: In this space the researcher's contribution is developed. You must explain your
analysis of the results obtained and compare them with those found in other similar
investigations. Emphasize new and important aspects of the study that stem from the research.
You should not repeat the information and data presented in the previous sections.
Where appropriate, they may include recommendations. Conclusions: The answer to the research question or questions raised in the introduction
that led to the design and completion of the work must be made explicit. Additionally, it
is necessary to include the limitations of the study. Bibliographical references: All bibliographical references in alphabetical order and
without numbering, will be inserted in the text (not in the footer) and will be in lower
case (except for the first letter), following the rules for publication of works of the

Report of a clinical case: The reports of clinical cases must be prepared in the following 
order: Summary- abstract- introduction of keywords- keywords- addresses of interest on the
Internet. Diagnosis- epidemiology- clinical case report- personal data of the patient- main
complaint- medical history- vital signs- dental history (extra oral examination, intraoral
examination, radiographic examination) - informed consent - treatment- histological
examination or pathological report ´-conclusions - bibliography Arbitration Committee: There is an arbitration committee made up of reviewers, members of
the Faculties of Dentistry of Latin America and Spain. Peer review: More information at the following link Arbitration system The rejection of an article is not always due to the fact that it is not of good quality,
it may not be appropriate to the theme of the journal, because it does not contribute much
to the subject it is dealing with, because it is a similar work to another published by the
same author, among other reasons. Originality: Every article that is presented for publication in Odontología Vital must be
supported by a letter signed by the author or authors indicating: -Be absolutely responsible (s) for the contents of the article. -Being the author or intellectual authors of the same -That the article is original and unpublished -That it is not in the process of being published in another journal. -That Odontología Vital, the Universidad Latina de Costa Rica and Arizona State University
are released from any liability that may arise from the dissemination of the content of the
article, its implications or relationships with the health of patients and the intellectual
property of the contents. if there is any dispute. -The author authorizes Odontología Vital to publish, reproduce, distribute and make the
