Inventory Management Analysis and Controlling Tools in Costa Rica’s Small and Medium Enterprises

Abstract

Companies do not care about their size and are addressed to be efficient in order to survive in this increasingly competitive market. So, searching for actions that lead to improve the processes and control the companies’ assets are always welcome. For this work, 8 controlling systems and inventories optimizations were analyzed, since the inventories are among the most valuable assets of companies. They are the engine of growth and the operation of their majority. 10 factors of success in implementation and inventory control, 5 brands of software, and 6 models for inventory control and traceability of data which help the company to be efficient in its daily operations were analyzed. It is concluded that most important success factor in the operation of the studied companies is the reliability of the information we have, and that users of this information are more confident in using the platform of Microsoft Excel to analyze other monitoring and analysis tools that are available in the market.
