Abstract

Apartheid in South Africa, a system of racial segregation officially instituted in 1948, was based on the belief in the superiority of the white race over others. Discriminatory policies imposed by the white minority subjugated the black majority and other ethnic minorities, perpetuating structural inequalities and undermining human dignity. This system was rooted in imperialist ideologies and the master-slave theory, facilitating the submission of the people to an oppressive regime. Although apartheid officially ended in 1994, challenges of racism and discrimination continue to be faced in the modern era. The persistence of these injustices highlights the need for a continued commitment to social justice and equality.
