The recognition of foreign degrees: a practical view from the international law of human rights and the principle of the best interest of the student
Abstract
The recognition of foreign degrees requires a treatment from human rights that does not mean enabling the automatic recognition of qualifications but rather the commitment to evaluate such qualifications. The practical effect that would derive from the recognition would be the condition of seeking employment opportunity; and, or, request access to continue higher education. Even from a human rights perspective, the obligation of recognition, if any, is not absolute either, since it would be subject to internal regulations, among others.
