Search for an Integral Method Evaluation of Management Effectiveness in Wild Protected Areas
Keywords:
Biodiversity, ecological integrity, adaptive managementAbstract
Currently, the evaluation of effectiveness of the management of protected areas is carried out under the framework defined by the International Union for the Conservation of Nature and the World Commission on Protected Areas in 2010; This framework works as a guide for the execution of an evaluation from a purely administrative level without considering the results in terms of the effects on biodiversity. For this reason, the research group of the School of Biology of the Latin University of Costa Rica decided to generate a new method that associates the current guide with studies of the population dynamics related to the biodiversity of the protected area, in order to achieve a result closer to reality.
