Abstract

The material with the best characteristics for the treatment of orbital fractures is under debate given that “resorbable plates appear to offer clinical advantages over metal plates, but there are doubts about the stability of the fixation and the degradation time, as well as the possibility of causing reactions to foreign bodies”, taking into account that the material must meet the characteristics of biocompatibility, non-allergenic, sterilizable, easy to handle, radiopaque, stable once manipulated, safe, low cost and with a good intraoperative fit.
