Impact on the post extraction healing process of mandibular third molars with fibrin-rich platelets: Literature review

Several authors maintain that the application of fibrin-rich platelets in the area of oral surgery is beneficial in the healing process due to the release of growth factors and cytokines submerged in the platelets and the fibrin mesh itself, which contains leukocytes to resist and fight infection by forming new bone in the post-extraction alveoli.
The objective is to determine the benefit in the healing process after extraction of mandibular third molars with fibrin-rich platelets. The research is descriptive, documentary in nature, non-experimental in design and qualitative in approach.
The PRISMA methodology is used for the identification, review and inclusion of the scientific articles that are part of the study. The articles were selected taking into account the title, abstract and objective, considering all the studies of systematic reviews, meta-analysis, comparative studies and literature reviews that include different criteria about the preservation of the dental alveolus after third molar surgery with the use of fibrin-rich platelets.
The search yielded 9 in Pub Med and 201 in Google Scholar, 8 in Science Direct, determining the exclusion criteria excluding books, monographs and experimental studies, leaving 175 articles that did not meet the objective to be investigated, 22 were duplicates and 21 articles are considered included in this literature review.
The articles were read in their entirety, the articles, objectives, methodology and conclusion of each of them were analyzed, which was presented below and subsequently analyzed.
